I did drill the extra holes in the end mate yes. I had a slight hesitation low down, and then thought ill drill them, which cured it. But I am running the pipercross as I mentioned which sucks alot of air.
Thanks for the info. It's always good to get some ideas what setups people have with the piper filter as not many have used it. It will be interesting to see a dyno print out when you get around to it.
(:-})
hopefully in the next couple of weeks. finally!!! lol
i have the BMC street filter in mine with Viper cans.
I use the DJ kit base settings [main jets & needles] and drilled the extra hole in the slider, it fuels bang on [seat of pants and Dyno read out.
I have tried the Std filter and a K&N with these settings?
the K&N had the famous dip at 5k but good power else where.
the Std filter smoothed out the dip, but with the DJ kit was now running too rich [reduced miles to tank and confirmed on dyno] so would need rejetting to get the power back
Street BMC gave smooth curve, good AFR on the dyno and tank milage went back up
I think that the reason for drilling the slide is to allow the slide to lift correctly when used with a less restrictive air cleaner, its the depression (low pressure) that causes the slide to lift, so clearly if the restrictions upstream af the carb are changed the slide needs to be adjusted. I have fitted many dynojet kits to many models of bike & I would say that the base settings are usualy ok if you lower the needle a notch.
