Best paint stripper
Best paint stripper
Can anybody tell me what is the best product to use??
Re: Best paint stripper
I tried Wicky's tip from his fork leg painting thread... Nitromors then wrap with clingfilm for 30 mins, repeated a couple of times and worked a treat!

Re: Best paint stripper
yep best ive found without blasting .
Re: Best paint stripper
Admittedly I've not tried the cling film wrap, but I tried Nitromors on it's own on the Storms wheels. It was definitely not a patch on what Nitromors used to be like from years ago, that stuff would strip anything. For taking the paint off the wheels I used a cheaper one, that worked brilliantly. Now I'm going to have to go up to the workshop to see who it was made by
**EDIT**
Right I'm back. Thinking about it, the paint stripper I found that worked best on the Storm wheels was one I had bought before the Nitromors, but didn't work well on what I was stripping at the time, hence why I got the Nitromors. It is manufactured by "Ever Build" and called "paint and varnish stripper". So I think you'll have to try out what you can find locally if you're paint stripping anything other than the Storm wheels.
Chris.

I stripped a CX500 petrol tank last year and found Nitromors was absolutely useless. I went on Ebay and bought some industrial strength paint stripper which worked a treat.

Tarmac mate! Lol
worked a treat for me once, also brilliant for skin removal on your hands.
I agree nitromors has become shite, try some industrial stuff!

Re: Best paint stripper
Thank god for that - I tried Nitromors on my fork lowers and found it rubbish, glad others concur, thought it was just me being shite as usual.
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!
Re: Best paint stripper
Yeah Nitromors used to be a lot stronger, but I think the secret these days is the clingfilm.

Blame Pete & the Health & Safety Gestapo.
Lots of things have been made ''Less Dangerous'' for the general public to use as 90% cant be trusted not to hurt themselves...
Can you imagine the Risk Assessment paper work involved with any corrosive substance in Martys hands ?
His idea of PPE is to let Carl do it...

Don't get me involved. I've nothing to do with this. If you want to burn your lungs out in a confined space without the proper breathing apparatus , that's up to you.
We made our own mix up in work Friday and used a methanol, hexane and acetic acid mix, worked a treat!
Not the safest mixture but better than what you can buy off the shelves and , if course, all the proper precautions where put in place. LOL

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Hubada Hubada...I'll have the one on the right despite the fact that she looks like she's breaking her neck for a pish...tony.mon wrote:http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?safe=off ... =60&ty=105
One of these will probably qualify.

Re: Best paint stripper
Nitromorse doesn't have the same bite as it used too. Decent paint stripper... if you have any car paint suppliers near you then that's your best bet. You won't find anything in your local diy shop anywhere near as good.
I had problem a while back and had to strip a set of bmw wheels before repainting, just went to my local paint supplier, what I bought was like the nitromorse of old.
