To switch off, or not to switch off, that is the question !!

Post by leevtr »

Got me thinking about this now I've fitted a bigger tank. I've used a vara fuel tap, which seems to work fine and dandy ( now I've got the bloody vacuum pipe unblocked !! )
However, with the original petcock having an auto shut off, of sorts, is it necessary for me to turn off the fuel tap when I'm not using the bike ?? ( I have anyway, but wondered if I actually need to )

No reserve, just off & 2 on positions. And yep, can switch it off no probs. I just thought there must be a reason the OE storm one automatically shuts down ( or at least partially ) when you switch off the engine.

Are you sure it's two ons ?
Was there a metal pipe on the inside of the tap going up about 4inch into the tank ?

Nope, just a filter.

Great . I'd turn it off when ever it's not running just like you would with a normal tap

Don't worry. I've already done that on the Hornet, as long as no one like Lloydie is around to laugh and take the piss then nobody needs to know
