Changed gearbox oil, new rear wheel bearings, cleaned air filter, fitted new chain and sprockets, tightened a few spokes, lubed the throttle cable and re glued and lockwired the right hand grip........not the storm but on the trials bike.

Just found out we have got a late entry for the Vic Britten national trial in Shropshire on Sunday 19th, so thought I had better give the old girl a service. then Saturday I need to get it MOTed and taxed as t is on a SORN at the moment. Then I still need to find time to buy the wife's birthday presents before the 21st

Decided to go to work on the storm to give it a run. Reg rec went pop (finned one) so my main fuse blew. No lights AT ALL and dead engine at a ton on completely unlit M49 was terrifying. I couldn't even see the hard shoulder.

When it got light (I was there for 5hrs) I saw there was a 20' deep ditch by the side of the hard shoulder. It was so dark I couldnt even see it when I walked to the emergency phone to get behind a barrier. I walked along a 12" strip of mud and didnt even know it was right next to me!

Still, I was umming and aahing about starting the big rebuild, so this has just made my mind up, complete strip and frame etc off to the powder coaters is next on the list.

Anyone got a link to a topic on the R1 reg conversion?

Also have sourced an R6 tail unit, so think that will be going on.
