link pipe question?

Just fitting new link pipes and cans where the originall links bolted on under foot rests new ones have no brackets is this the norm or not.
Just relying on strap round can is this ok

Yep that's fine, there's quite a few aftermarket link pipes without them

Just make sure the hangers and fixings are sturdy enough, I.e no visible defects and the clamps on link pipe to header connection are up to scratch

The peg mounting points are there for a little extra rigidity but are not totally necessary.

And on that note... before clamping up the clamps, also seal around exhaust connections with a high temp silicone sealant so you have no leaks Example sealant

agree, my Viper low level links dont have the peg mounts and they are fine

mine too, i haven't got rear pegs on, use Mikalor clamps there brill and get some decent hangers if you don't need rear pegs.

Thank for advice M8 mine look the same as yours are they powertechs .
will have to leave rear pegs on as wify likes to ride gunshot now and then. After clamping up tight do seam sturdy.
May use clamps from old pipes and make a bracket to link under foot peg belt and braces if you get my meaning.

One observation- although the strap isn't necessary, it might be the position of the can mounting strap that's worth an examination.
If mounted centrally along the can, then the can won't try to move the link pipe joints.
However, if the strap is too far forward or too far back, then when you go over a bump in the road it will try to move the link pipe to can, and link pipe to system joints, which will eventually lead to leaks.
The better solution is to have the mounting straps nearer the rear.
It worries me when i see straps mounted too far forward....

If that's your bike, try lifting a can and observe the amount of movement at the link pipe/system joint.

Will take that on board tony.(hit a length of 4x2 wood at 70 other day shook bike ferly )
strap is at mo 3rd of way from front still think ill fabricate a support on link pipe though will give me peace of mind.
