Engine knocking noise

Post by Theodio »

Good day dear all!

Some of you remember me, because of some issues, of my bike. Well, after some serious lessons I managed to fix my beauty. Also put 2 new exhausts (handmade Greek

I'm starting to rebuilt my front, (ohlins springs) and the rear shock rebuilt.

But one problem remain:

---When I reach 3000 rpm and accelerate till 4100 rpm the engine knocks, like piston slapping, I dont know. Its coming from the engine I think th front cylinder. And I get noticeable vibrations.
The clutch also rattles, the noise when I disengage the clutch is similar, but it comes at the above range. It is the filter box? I'm afraid it's the coils because when it rains the front cyl dies sometimes and doesnt spark.
The performance is low as well.

K&N filter, Racetech echausts, Stock carb (i think)

PLEASE HELP!!

Can't help with the engine noise..sorry

I belive everyones clutch rattles to some degree...mines does

You can cure the coil problem by fitting stick coils and making sure the drain hole is clean n clear..

Is there anyone who has experienced similar problem? I don't know whether the noise comes from the transmission/clutch or from cylinder.

How can I troubleshoot>?

Stick a screwdriver to your ear and place it into contact with the areas of concern and use it like a stethoscope to listen and pinpoint the source of the noises.

But the problem is that it makes the noise when accelerating, not when idling. (3-4k) in acceleration. Thnx for the response

Does the noise happen under load or when you throttle back & more info is needed on this vibration? Have manual cct's been fitted? If you are still using stock cct's then get them off the bike & fit manuals before doing any more test runs.

Considering the history with this bike It could be any number of things. Hopefully nothing too severe like timing.

It may be something as simple as the carbs running too lean with the exhaust being changed.

I went the bike to the workshop, corrected the timing for te Rear cylinder (jumped 2 teeth).

So the timing also in front is correct I guess. Must I pen the front cover just in case to check if the camcahin sprockets are aligned with the crank marks?

I'm afraid something goes wrong with the electrics. Is there any way i can check if the moteur is 180 deg timed out?

Hi!!

I believe this noise is coming from the carbs or the air box. Anyway I scheduled to clean, balance, adjust my carbs to a wokshop.

I hope this will solve the problem. I think its too much money though. 160 euros. Next time ill try my self. with a special gauge. The bike runs nicewith the new cans! very nice sound~!
