Front tyre advice

I have Bridgestone Battlax BT tyres on my bike, the front needs replacing soon, i will stick with the battlax, on the front tyre is BT010F, can't find those tyres, the tyres i have found for my bike are BT016, are they just newer stock? as i don't know how long it's been on the bike.

Re the age of the tyre, look on the sidewall somewhere you should find a marking 4 digits in a oval hoop. Should read 2712 or similar.

The first two numbers will be the week number (01 to 52 ) the second two will be the year.

In the example above 2712 that means they were made week 27 of 2012.

It doesn't take into account how long they sat in a warehouse/ shop before fitting.

Depending on how much life is in the rear maybe worth getting a matched pair at the same time.

I'm sure someone will be along soon to tell you how old any tyre should be before they a scrap regardless of age.

Personally 6-10 years old I'd be looking at changing them. The rubber goes hard & you will loose the grip factor.

His front is fecked for sure and started to deform when I had a look at it last week . Can't comment on the tyre model or brand as I'm a pilot power man

Thanks, just had a look, front tyre is 1303, and the rear is 4409, don't think it was used much in the years before i got it by the look of it.

Do yourself a favour and get them both off, they'll both be knackered, you'll be sorry if you don't, that's an accident just waiting to happen, if you want some good rubber then a good choice for a FireStorm is a set of Dunlop Sportsmart or Sportsmart 2, great tyres for the wet and overall use

Getting both is just greedy, and will make it hard to steer.
Just one or the other is a better choice, imho.

Personally I never run a tire more than 3 years old on my bike.

It is just not worth the risk IMHO, besides the smallest of get offs will cost you more than a tire.
