Reg Rec Question
Reg Rec Question
Can a R/R be tested before fitting, and if so, how ?

Re: Reg Rec Question
Not really as it converts AC from genny output to DC to the battery. Follow the testing procedure in the manual.
Check the battery voltage with a multimeter, with the engine not running. Start the bike (increase the rpm's up a little), the voltage should now be a couple of volts more than the original battery voltage. Check both voltages (running and not running) at battery terminals.
I've installed a voltmeter into the dash so I can monitor the charging system on the hoof.

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Re: Reg Rec Question
Sorry, got ahead of myself there
, you said before fitting
Make up 5 leads Lee for testing, male spades on one end, females on the other. Males into bike harness, females to r1 R/R
Don't forget to earth it to bike frame.

SH#T HAPPENS!!!!!!!!

+1Not really as it converts AC from genny output to DC to the battery.
Lee you could always make some wires up to link between the bike plug and the R/R. A few bits of wire and some spade terminals! Make sure the R/R is bolted to the bike and earthed though.
Oh Watty beat me to it CBA deleting what I've wrote.

Re: Reg Rec Question
We all have something useful to say but whether it's in context or not is something else altogether.bloody hell I've said something useful for once

Re: Reg Rec Question
Another way is to patiently tease out the spade terminal connectors from the Firestorm's white plastic terminal block. It's not the easiest of things to do, but it can be done with patience. You'll need a small thin flat bladed screwdriver to push down at the back of the spade connector to release the tang that holds the spade terminal in place. Just make a note of where the spade connectors came from in case you need to refit them.
Also note on the R1 rectifier the live (+) terminal is on the opposite side to the Firestorms iirc.
Chris.
