rear brake caliper question

Post by agentpineapple »

i'm in the market for a mint rear caliper in gold, I was wondering what other Honda bikes use the same caliper, and is there a website which would help. early blades upto 2003 look the same as do the sp1 and 2.
another question....
the bobbins on the front discs, I assume they should move freely, I've given the discs a good clean, what product and technique would you use to free up the bobbins, that's if they're even called bobbins...
I was thinking of using a tiny squirt of wd40 and a tooth brush, I do have a can of brake cleaner I could use, what tool would you use to get them moving, or should they move freely by hand alone????

Tis easy Marty ...even for you...

Get a nut & bolt pass through the bobbin, do the nut up so it clamps the bobbin, ie ratchet/socket on the front & a spanner on the back.
When its tight take the spanner off & the turn with the ratchet. Go easy on the WD-40 but it is ok to use as it will help clean out the crap, mainly brake dust., but you don't want it leaking out later on so use sparingly !

Mark the first bobbin with a bit of tape then work your way round.

Give the disc a very good clean when done with the brake cleaner.

Tis something worth doing once a year or more often if your really anal...

Try Jonesy for a rear calliper...

+1 on what Mac said. It's a pain in the butt job though. They should move but they wont spin freely loose. It not like you can flick them and they will spin.
