What do these do and where to they go

Post by Moocher »

Yes I know "take lots of photos when you first strip the bike". Well I did. How was I to know the bloody camera was going to auto destroy the card?
It did and I have no pictures to refer to.
Anyhow I'm getting it sorted but for the life of me I can't work out what these little brackets do and where they fit.
Can anyone help?

Those are the radiator base brackets. They attach to the lug on the bottom of each radiator & the other end bolts to the cylinder head casing

They attach to the lug on the bottom of each radiator & the other end bolts to the cylinder head casing
And the opposite end/fairing side there are holes for IIRC plastic trim clips to hold the base of the fairing in place from the inside.

or cable ties.....
on a different bike in the past, I found out the owner had drilled little holes on the inside of the fairing and cable tied them to the rad brackets, what a bodger...... :Ball Kick:

I don't even bother with them as it makes it quicker to remove the fairings when needed. :biggrin

Again many thanks what stars you are.
So I got the bike back on its wheels after the minor strip.
Renewed Swing arm bearings, Suspension pivot and links bearings, Fitted Bazza's manual cam chain adjusters and fitted Beowulf Oval end cans.
last must do is to replace the Reg / Rectifier which is the original 1997 plain bodied type.
it fired up without any fuss.

I have to ride it a bit until mid summer and then I'll have the wheels off and have them powder coated maybe ti Swing arm and fork lowers need that too.

Once again a big thanks for all help and advice.

Clean looking bike you have there, but what's happened to the back wheel. What colour are you having them powdercoated then, same colour or a nice Gold.

The red blotches are just a few dabs to cover the bare metal I'll touch it up with black in a few days just to look a bit less scruffy.
I am torn between retaining original colours or ???? something else I don't know what yet.
I was thinking Gold Swing Arm and fork lowers and White Wheels. And then again I may go for silver for the lot. I think a bike can have too many colours and then look like a nine year old designed it.
I need to flick through some photos to see what others have done.
