FEET ENLARGEMENT WITH AGE.

As we get older our body shape tends to change.

Body's have a tendency to spread out & shoulders start to droop affecting posture.

The end result to this front heavy & mostly larger body is compensated for by the feet spreading out to maintain the balance point & help spread the load.

This spreading is mainly lateral, which in itself is the weight factor & likely to affect the shoe comfort & sizing but also a noticeable elongation of the foot can occur.

This ageing driven body spread isn't just confined to the feet but other appendages may show signs of growth, hands, ear lobes & noses.
chipolata's tend to be the opposite in the fact that they shrink with age as the become less used, ask Kev about his shrinking willy for conformation.
that seems to answer that one then, apparently normal and tends to prove it’s all goes rapidly downhill once you reach 50 :(

My last two pairs were both Gaerne, so when I bought the Storm I got a new pair from J&S, G-RW, which were reduced from £169 to £99, highly recommended:

Don't know why but people often seem to overlook Gaerne, but they've been making excellent boots for years.
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

Gaerne do indeed make nice boots I had a pair yrs ago and they were very well made and lasted well, unfortunately they aren’t that common and not widely stocked so it’s difficult to get some to try on, but you're right Gaerne do seem to gert over looked which is a pity.

Likewise Daytona make some of the best boots around but the ones with the level of protection I’m aiming for are top expensive , the less sporty looking more touring types are simply to flexible obviously designed as much with comfort and water resistance in mind as protection. Perfect for long days in the saddle touring but not really what I’m after.
Like I said before I believe my boots saved me from a broken ankle last year I don’t think I’d have got away with it badly swollen maybe sprained with a touring boot. see pics of said injury below

The RST Tractech boots seem to offer at least the level of protection (in fact feel even more sturdy) as my current Sidis while managing to be very comfortable as well, given the £95 delivered price tag I’m struggling to find a better option.

new boots arrived yesterday, I want for the RST tractecs in white £90 from Nick Noble MC gear,
http://www.rst-moto.com/rst-tractech-evo-ce-sport-boot
compared to all the other boots I tried these seemed as good as any, even comparded with top end premium brandsfrom the likes of Sidi, Astar. Dainese they didn't feel like a second best choice. And given the price which even at RRP was often a lot less than 1/2 that of the other boots so with a £30 discount I think they are represent excellent value.
The discounted boots I've got are last years model (mod no 1513) I've had a look at this year’s boots (mod no 1516) and I can't find any difference at all, they appear to be identical in every way. I think the only difference in the 2013 - 2014 is a couple of new colours, but the construction is identical so the 2013 boots are a bit of a bargain.

So what are they like ? first impressions, very comfortable especially compared to my old Sidis which were never what you'd call plush, they appear very well made at least as good as other brands I'd considered and ther feel very tough with lots of CE armour and bracing around the ankle, this makes your foot feel very secure and well protected, so all good then? mostly yes but there is one slight issue, they seem ever so slightly bulky compared to the pared down Sidis, which makes the gear change feel a little clumsy I think adjusting the gear lever a bit to allow more room for the slightly chunkier boot will solve this.
I think this is probably down to the fact they have all the armour of the sidi boot but also a plush lining that gives the comfort the Sidi boots lack,.
So all in all anyone looking for a pair of new boots should definitely gives these a look, you could do a lot worse and at the price I paid I can't see any thing that comes close in terms of value for money.
