no we're not mad, we just don't have a choice

..........some fair weather bikers in this country never go out in the rain cos they dont want to get their shiney toy dirty.

Most of us on this site ride all year round, only ice keeps me off the bike. :P :P

you lucky guys in Oz don't have to worry about the weather. So go enjoy and good luck...............

Lots of fair weather riders here as well.
The only weather I don't get is ice and I live in the tropics!! Oh yeah I don't get sleet or hail, but I'm sure they come under the ice banner really :D

When it rains here it hammers down and in winter it gets rather cold in the middle of the night. Have to rip in my thermals about once a year :D

I have to worry about dehydration and thank the maker for the small tank on the storm, so I can get off and have a drink. It's the only time I like the tank size. In full gear it doesn't take long to get a good sweat up. :D

That's what we'd have you think, but we get a little... I've just got home from a three-day ride with a big group here on the Gold Coast. It teemed down every night & of course, we were all out riding in it...

And a couple of weeks ago, I was on about the most popular circuit in Queensland (Mt Glorious, for any in the know) & caught some rather large hail on the way home. Naturally, being a bright sunny day when I left home earlier that morning, I'd taken out the waterproof & quilted linings from my jacket & was basically wearing just enough mesh to keep the occasional bit of body-armour in place  . Owwwwww!!!!

I know, I know, you guys win the most pathetic weather award, but it's not all peaches & cream over here... Just most of the time  8) .

Always think of you in Oz having glorious weather, ride around all day, evenings on the beach...............where as here, vest, tea shirt, jumper. thick jacket, waterproofs...........oh and thermals if its a bit chilly.

temp at 10 pm last night was 1 C. and a bit cooler this morning at 0600.

brrrrr.

1 degree. hmmm. Can't say I like that. Lowest I've been is -3 and that was here in Australia up in some mountains. It was 32 here today, rather hot :D But it was 37 in Borneo when I was there a few weeks ago.
I hate cold weather

VTRgirl,
Does mount Glorious still have the helmets on it??

Last winter I was working in Chicago and it was -9 outside but with the wind chill the weather forcaster said it would feel like -30c
Now that was cold, it burned your lungs everytime you took a breath and within seconds of being outside your skin started to go stiff and crack.
Thank God I wasn't on the bike.

Helmets? Is that a slang word for police that I haven't heard yet? Or do you mean the helmets symbolising those who've stacked & left the mountain permanently? You've lost me.

If you mean the cops, then yeah, they're still there regularly. Sunday 2 or 3 weeks ago, they were up there & pulled up every single bike. They checked 160 (friend's son was one of the police there) for road-worthiness, noise levels & licences. Almost HALF weren't licensed for the bikes they were on. Unbelievable.

If you mean the helmets left as tributes after accidents, then no, they're never left there for long. Whether the cops take them, or other riders, I don't know.

If there's some other meaning for 'helmet', you're going to have to do a Pauline Hanson for me... Please explain...
