Fuel tank vacuum??

Alright y'all, The new engine is fitted and I tried firing it today

There doesn't seem to be any fuel reaching the carbs... I'm very unsure I've got the vacuum/breather/overflow right.

Am I right to think the 2 hoses connected straight onto the tank are breather and overflow -- Both Running down, not connected to anything (?)
Then on either side of the petcock are the fuel lines and at the back of the petcock is the vacuum hose.
If so what is the vacuum hose connected to??

Vacuum To the rear cylinder under the rear carb .
The other two run ground out the bottom of the bike .
Have you turned the switch on on the tap ?

Cool thats what i thought but wasn't too sure... So it makes sense there wasn't any fuel getting down to the carbs.

I think the petcock is on but it's quite confusing which is on and off... Would this be on?

You can get some fuel down by putting a suringe on a peice of pipe and conect it to the fuel tap to create a vac that helped me when i was in a similar situation once you got fuel in the lines and its firing up take the temporary vac away and re connect the vac hose.

First what model bike is it. Pre 2001 with the 16 liter tank or post 2001 with the 19 liter tank??

If its post like mine you will have this under the tank:





As you will see from the first photo there is no tap under the tank the main fuel line attaches to the petcock in the 2nd photo, the 2 other pipes are the breather & the overflow as you can see they have different connections so cannot be mixed up. The vacuum line that supplies the petcock is the small pipe coming in to the right rear of the petcock. Its a simple system where pipes cannot be mismatched. NB this is the setup for a 2002 F2 bike & all subsequent models.

Pre 2001 16L tank is the one. Do you actually pull on the syringe as you're cranking up the bike?

just pull it slightly and leave it for a bit making sure there is a good seal to keep the vacum this will fill the carbs up then crank it over.

all your doing is opening a rubber disaphram spelling isnt my thing lol

Great stuff!! Charging up the battery now, so I'll give it a go tomorrow morning.

Any idea if the petcock is on or off on the photo above (3rd post)? I know I sound like a tool, but i couldn't see any marking on it indicating whether it is on or on off...

Pull one of the hoses of try the vac thing if petrol comes out then your right if not turn it the other way cant remember which way all ways gets me

Plugged the syringe and heard the fuel flowing to the carbs! After that it fired right up
