2008 GSX-R1000 wheels fit?

Post by mik_str »

Does anyone know/has anyone tried to fit wheels from a late model GSXR1000 to a VTR? I realise the rotors are 10mm larger at the front, but that would not be an issue for me as I have radial calipers and could easily compensate with the addition of a 5mm spacer. I am more concerned about the width issues (likely have a larger axle but this, too, can be easily remedied with spacers)....

thanks!

Eurgh, then you'd get Suzuki cooties!!! The wheels would deteriorate before your very eyes! As to whether they fit? No idea.

So, based on what I found so far, I think the front would fit with a set of custom made captive spacers. More difficult to find out about the rear, however......

I was able to find that the Gixxer uses a 28mm rear axle (vs 20mm for VTR, easily fixed with captive spacers). I also found that the outermost measurement between the bearings is supposed to be 170mm. The rear rotor is same diameter at 220mm. The key remaining issues are rotor and sprocket alignment.....

can be done with spacers under sprocket and dicsc, with new bolts. I believe it is more likely you need to adjust it this way. I did it on rear when fitting T675 wheels - has exactly the same bearings as vtr, and 310 mm discs on front ....
