instrument faceplate swap?

Post by Jscobey »

would it be possible to swap out the Speedo faceplate in my storm with one from a hawk? mines canadian spec and is in KPH and i want it to be in MPH. it has MPH but they are so small and dark grey which is hard to see on the black background even in the day. and the MPH doesnt light up at night like the KPH does. would swapping the faceplate give me what i want? or are the gauges actually different and i wouldnt get accurate readings? also where can i buy just the faceplate? every parts fiche has it as a part of the whole cluster

I suspect that the setup at Honda's factory is done with a control signal being transmitted to the instrument, then the needle is stuck on at that point.

You should be able to just swap the faceplates and front cover without any issues.

in order to swap the faceplates you have to remove the needle, so suggest that you have a good look at the white dial threads which detail the method used.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

yea ive seen that thread. im thinking of having my sister making me a white one like that. shes a computer graphics designer and im sure would have no problem making it. the only thing is id need on in MPH already to really make an accurate plate. it would be easy enough to scan and reverse all the colors. the tricky part is getting the light to shine through the numbers.

i figure ill make do with a black one for now tho if i can find one
