Which one should I go for and is it best to leave on the trickle charger for 24 hrs before fitting??

I've never used a Motobatt but they have a good rep. Yuasa have always made good batteries. Once you have added the acid, leave the battery for an hour to breathe before fitting the sealing cap and then fully charge with an Optinate type charger. Apparently trying to start the bike with a new battery that hasn't been charged first can cause the plates in the battery to warp at best shortening the life of the battery and at worst killing the battery.

Hope this helps

Whichever you prefer - Just make sure the OEM Yuasa one is the correct one for year of bike - the later model battery is slightly taller and tad more amps. The Motabatt should be universal.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

The write up for the Motobatt battery on the Wemoto site says it's fully charged out of the box. And its an AGM battery so I would probably go for that.

Have a look for Odyssey batteries too. Bloody expensive but about the best you'll buy. Part no for a VTR is PC310.

I would still give it a top up charge beforehand for the reason you mentioned (shortened life) above. One don't know when it was charged and how long it's been sitting on the shelf for.

Personally I would go for the Yuasa but there will be a big price difference so that will be the decider.

Recommend the MotoBatt  but then I bought one, so I would
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!
