Start off this morning, and all is well, a few miles down the road and no speedo. Last time this happened I undid the earth bolt retightened it and all was well. Not this time.
Twenty or so miles later and it flickers back into life as though nothing had happened and was fine for the rest of the day.
Any ideas?
Also why does the fuel light come on at anything between 13 and 14 litres, surely it is fixed and not flopping about in there!

The fuel sender is a little wet sensor , fuel runs through it and sometimes it takes a little while for it to empty and trigger the red light .
Sounds like your speedo sensor is on it's way out to or you have bad earths on the back of the clocks and need to clean all the contacts

Re: Flipping speedo and elastic fuel tank!
Thanks for that I only asked as I managed to hold up a rideout while I did a kamikaze dive at a fuel station having ridden for 15+ miles with the red light on only to find it would only hold 13.2 litres...
The speedo thing is odd, I have replaced the original sensor with one from a breaker as the previous one died, no warning no coming back to life. The odd thing is it seems to know when I am out for a "get away from the Mrs." big day out.
