wiring led lights

Post by vic freak »

HI, has anyone had experience of fitting an led intergrated tail & indicator light, i bought one from ebay and is suppose to be plug & play but it isnt, it has an plug to fit into the light socket which i plugged in hey presto red leds but no brake light when brakes applied, it also has 2 wires hanging out which i presume to be the indicators . there should be 4 shouldnt there , also have 2 big old chunkie resistors in the box with the light which slow down flash rate , i already have a set of 4 from guess where {ebay} red & gold ones, i also have a set of front flush mounted led indicators that when fitted & wired up to the original indicator plugs blew the fuse and when i soldered them up to the resistor does not work at all (bummer) so put the original god damn ugly stalks back on , has anyone else done a successful wire up & can tell me where im going wrong or am i just being a numpty, im not a novice ive been working on & racing bikes for years, but these new fangled leds have got me foxed any help would be appreciated,

I fitted same rear led + indicator unit recently and had a bit of trouble with wires in light/brake plug not lining up correctly, had to reposition bent over wire to make it line up! as far as indicator wires go they just plug into the back of the stripey wires (sorry cant remember colours) from each rear indicator! inregards to resistors bin them and change flasher unit instead! :D

I installed one of them too. Didn't bother with the white resistor thingys I just ordered a new flasher relay and plugged it in. It works fine and I have no complaints so far.

Some LED's have to have the correct polarity, if you wire them in the wrong way they don't light up.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Integrated tail/Indicator LED lights

installing one on a friends bike and started reading these posts, after some careful thought figured out how to do it, watch the vid in the link above, that's me at my mates Garage fitting the light to his VTR 1000f 2000 model.
Also read the UPDATE in the description below it as we figured out how to actually slow the flash rate down making them legal to have on your bike here in the UK.

have fun and please feel free to ask questions.
