Thundercat doesn't idle smoothly and cuts out

Post by Virt »

As some of you may know my best mate rides a thundercat, he's been having problems with it all year but last week everything got sorted and it was running like an absolute dream (that thing is so nice to ride!)...

This weekend he came round to visit, and the second he left he started having issues with idling and the bike would just drop the revs or cut out completely. Any ideas what it could be, considering it just went so suddenly?

HT Leads, spark plugs and caps have all been changed and the carbs were cleaned professionally less than 300 miles ago.

We're baffled, so any ideas?

Try checking all connections to ignitor box, definitely sounds like an electrical problem rather than fuel.id start checking all connections .

Electrical and carb problems can sound very similar, you say carbs were cleaned 300 miles ago, was this to try and sort the problem ?, were they balanced when refitting ?, was the fuel tank cleaned out ?.. It could be crap from the tank blocking a needle valve and causing a carb to flood, this would sound similar to what you have. check fuel filters and tank.. And tell him to get rid of the white inner fairing panels
My thundercat runs sweet but the front brake has loads of lever travel before it works :( I'll fix your mates bike if he gives me his brakes

He likes the white inner fairing panels

It's currently getting a new coil pack in, sounds like it's cylinder 1 that's not working and that's one of the cylinders that got a new coil pack recently. Getting done for cheap so hopefully it's the fix, if not I'll probably come back with more information and complaints

Cheers guys
