Re: rear suspension
Mine's started doing this, taking the linkage apart now for a big ol' re-greasing.

Re: rear suspension
Suspension link (picture in viewtopic) siezed pin 1 bearing collapsed, 1 just about to. Pin destroyed. Bolt stuck in but saved. Grease seal inner hole too loose due to excessive pkay in shaft.
Many thanks to lloydie for help & loan of parts. Replacements on their way. I will be fitting grease nipple to the unit before fitting to bike.
No noises from suspension. A couple of minor handling issues but a surprise to find this amount of wear. Bike has summer use only. No way to lubricate this part, except stripdown/service. Grease nipple will help.
get busy guys. Total failure could be a disaster

Make it ASAP - as that squeak is the sound of your Storm in pain… A Firestorm is for life not just for Xmas

+1 on the asap.
Unless you are not using the bike.
I hope that squeak is unrelated to the suspension
Happy hunting

Re: rear suspension
It sounds like the actual spring bar oiled it stopped then started straight away.
there's no cracks or leaks to be seen?

Don't sit on it and it shouldn't squeek any more...sorted

Re: rear suspension
The problem is deeper than oiling the big spring - It's more than likely the internal bearings and sleeves in the linkage corroding rotten (see pic) . If not sorted it can seize with potentially catastrophic consequences as seen in the picture with the split.

Chric a bit of oil ain't gonna fix it Mate.chric wrote:It sounds like the actual spring bar oiled it stopped then started straight away.

What happens is the bearings dry out & over time water gets in & they get rusty. Eventually they will seize solid which can lead to the cracking & the suspension collapsing.
Sounds harsh but is has happened in the past. Gawd forbid your ridding it if it does give up big time.
Take note of the advice being given & get it looked at ASAP. You may be lucky & just need a good lube up but it may require some bearings & new seals, spacers & bolts...

Get the lot looked at whilst your in there. Swingarm, all linkage's & the shock top & bottom.
It's not worth doing half a job !
Chances are it's never been done in the life of the bike. It's a service item & need looking at. The squeak is the bike telling you it needs attention.
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...
Re: rear suspension

Re: rear suspension
if you change the bearings, this conversion table can help. It is only place I found 91071-KV3-005 details.
