they mostly sit behind the right fairing, you only see a small part of it.

Here's a pic for anyone interested...

It doesn't look as long as Amcq's damper, I can't imagine it will stick out much further than the side fairing.

that is much shorter than mine
where did you plan to fit it, as the length is decided by the swing circle of the fork leg when it goes from lock to lock. mine could only be 1" shorter if I mounted the fork clamp slightly more inboard
