Engine number???

Post by kemper162 »

Just got a complete engine from a stolen recovered bike (All above board btw) and the engine number has been ground off by the theives.... how do I go about changing engine numbers on my logbook when there isn't one? I am rebuilding the original lump to sell so need that number to stay put. :?:

I guess you'd need to take all the paperwork you have to your local DVLA office inc proof that the 'dodgy' engine is legitimate and see what they say.
i would sand it with sand paper the some way like you would wont to polished it. Once that is done get some amaradic (?) acid and apply it right on it. The acid will bring numbers back as long as is strong enough. If no one has welded on it you should be able to see the old numbers.

Make sure you have a reciept for the engine, then rebuild your original one to put back in and sell on the no number engine when your done, give a reciept and the one you got with it. Your bike will still have a value that way. if you go to dvla they won't issue a number anything like a Honda number, they may not even issue one so it shows as blank on the log book.

Finally got around to having a good look at my old engine.... praise the lord... no damage at all.
If anyone is interested it's for sale now.
Front pot not reassembled because it needs a new head gasket of course. But everything fine.
200 squid and it's yours.

Might be an idea if you put your location in your profile.

11 posts and your selling an engine with no numbers - could be seen as a tad suspicious… just sayin'

Spose it does sound a bit dodgy :shifty: ... this is my original motor however. Complete with totally legit number.
I'm in Wrexham North Wales BTW
Just thought I'd put it here before ebay gets it at the weekend. :D

I also think you need to obtain a sense of humour to be a member of this forum fella.....
what the guys are referring to, are the rules of the forum, which state you must have made 50 posts before you can access the sales section. as you only have 13 posts, and you are not even in the sales section. the guys are giving you a little stick.
people here have been scammed before, hence the 50 post limit.
we appreciate you wanting to give us first dibs, but we are wary of scammers, none of us know you, so it's understandable that we are wary of you.
stick with us mate, we are a good bunch, and we look out for each other, as you can see for yourself.
glws of the engine.....
