Rear fairing screws

Hi, has anyone had trouble getting the allen key bolts out of the fairing underneath the seat area on the rear fairing. I need to change my rectifier but they seem to be just going round and round. I'm hoping the screw fitting in the frame hasn't come loose otherwise I could be stuffed.

Sounds like the captive nut is spinning :-( not good sorry

mine do exactly the same

not sure but if i remember right (long time ago)
these are not in the subframe but are on a couple of lugs from the subframe
and you can see them from under the seat
don`t know what they are called but they are a clip that slips over the flat lug and screw goes through the middle

You've got one hope before drilling them out, and putting a hole straight through the subframe and using a nut and bolt.
Put a hex dive into an electric drill, set it to undo, and spin it at full speed.
The aluminium captive nut spins, hots very hot, and seizes in the steel hole. the screw undoes.
You'll still have the same problem afterwards, but at least they're out.

Works sometimes, this bodge, no guarantees but worth a try.

Happened to me. I used a saw to take a small strip of the top of the square tubing off, then used a set of pliers to hold the nut while I loosened it off. I epoxied a piece of "angle aluminum" under to brace it afterwards (though given its location, I think it's more exposed to a pulling force than a downward push, so even leaving it open and unsupported shouldn't be an issue)

Stupid design, should have just put a through-hole and nut and bolt.

If you're talking about the plastic trim clips just use a box cutter and cut the heads off. They're cheap and easy to replace.
Next time I have my rear fairing off I'm replacing mine with steel trim/panel clips.

Nah he's referring to the hex head (allen) bolts at the front of the subrame.

I will try the electric drill method then if fails try cutting a small hole to hold the nut.
