Mac why have you got an old tyre on the bike. Couldn't you dispose of it. Did you use Essential Rubber.

Now that makes sense. I didn't inspect the photo close enough. Yeh I carried a trolley jack for a couple of miles. The weight of it was the worst thing. It was fun cornering

discovered a b****rd puncture in the rear

Tyre's got loads left on it as well. It's very slow but a puncture none the less, and the internet would have you believe a patched tyre will explode and kill you and many kittens for miles around.

Could reeeeally do without spending the £130 for another PR3 fitted though.

I had to swap the wheel so I could use the bike on Tuesday... So the wheel was off anyway.

I didn't want to risk the 40 odd miles on the fecked tyre so I strapped it to the bike, used a set of knackered old plastics & an old saddle so as not to damage Neu Reds B/W. It's not just a tyre it's a wheel with a tyre on it.

Yep I went up to Essential...

If its in the middle of the tread get it plugged. It'll be fine.

Although the tyre shop will probably suck air through teeth & tell you you need a new one...take you business elsewhere.

Very shiny even had a slide when gassing it away from a set of lights...

Think I'll go for a spin tomorrow & scrub 'em in properly...

Good job I've got 999 on speed dial...

Did you manage to get your mates XR250 started Carl :?:
Oh yeh. It back fired a couple of times before it kicked into action but it started. The only thing is once it's switched off it wont start with the kickstart again :( I think it needs the decompression cable adjusted but he wont let me tinker with it. I'd have the carbs off and give them a good clean out too. All we done was changed the plug, oil and filters before starting it.

The thing is my mate has a dodgy right ankle (old injury) and has been dreaming of using the bike again for a bit of fun. A bit of a pipe dream really!!! Kicking and kicking gave him pain in the ankle and he's now convinced himself that it's time to finally get rid as it never gets used and his ankle wont cope. His heart does not wont to let it go but he had to convince himself it's the right decision. Well, it seems that way to me. That's first time the bike had started in 10 years 8O It's been sitting in storage since getting back from Portugal where it was last used on a fairly regular basis, when they lived out there. It was good to hear the old girl running for 10 mins. I can't ride it as it's too tall for me. I'd be OK as long as there is a tree to lean against everytime I stopped.

I had one iffy moment when towing it. We where both coming to a stop and I pulled the rope a little taught and flop over I went. My bike fell to the side, leg out and tried to stop myself falling, but it went past the point of no return so I gently lay the bike down on me. No damage to my bike, not even a mirror. :D Other than that towing it was not so bad. The Storms torque towed it real easy. The hardest past was trying to keep the speed down and steer straight. At such low speeds and towing my bars where weaving all over the place.

I'm glad your hard work paid off and the XR250 did start. You were very lucky you didn't damage your bike when it fell over onto it's side.
One of my brothers had the Suzuki version. Even though they are a tall bike, the seat and suspension I found did compress somewhat once you sit on it, meaning you're not perched quite so high as you first think when standing beside the bike. They are good fun bikes.

Un-strapped the wheel off of the back from Neu Red & changed the tail plastics back over...

Put the rear back in Smokin Joe...

Pulled the Wonky Donkey out to rebuild the rear end plastics & to take some pic's ...

Pushed Neu Red, Smokin & Drooper out for a family pic...

Rode Neu Red down to Pirtex with two sets of std oil lines for blinging up...
