Re: stock foot pegs bracket
It's a long bolt that runs all they way through form one side to the other so you will need to support the bike from the sump and weight it on the front a little like this
Undo the nut and pull out the long bolt ,the swing arm will drop so it's best if you remove the rear wheel and the gear linkage and the two Allen bolts holding the rear sets on then remove the long bolt .
If you have or can get a spare swing arm pivot bolt feed one through while pulling the other out as it makes it easier .

Thanks Lloydie wtf were Honda thinking with this idea mygod Japanese on drugs in the design department I think right OK when I get them from Steve I will start what were you doing to your bike to get it like this rear sets aswell
Re: stock foot pegs bracket
Frameless frame concept - use the rear wheel axle to slide in from the other side as you take the swingarm spindle out...

OK I have spare wheel spindel from my cbr600 their probably the same so lloydie says take the rear wheel off or would I get away with keeping the back wheel on the front of the bike is sitting in a big grab and does it matter what side I unscrew first
Re: stock foot pegs bracket
Best take the rear wheel out so there's less weight supported by the swingarm. Support the rear of the bike , hang it from step ladders, garage roof joist or whatever you can contrive. Undo footpeg hanger mounts - undo pivot nut on left side (gear side) and remove swingarm pivot from right side (brake) at the same time slide in rear axle into left side as support till you pull out the pivot all the way. Remove right hanger, Grease up pivot and reassemble back the way you came remembering to retorque up to spec the swingarm pivot nut. (Specs are in the downloadable PDF Workshop manual in Workshop knowledgebase)
In fact a good time to lookover and regrease the rear suspension linkages and bearings while you're delving about in that area. > http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 31&t=11809

Re: stock foot pegs bracket
last time I used carls method, which involved an abba stand, two planks of wood(3ft long, 4 x 6), 4 house bricks and a socket with electrical tape on it.
bloody hell that sounds like something to do with bondage.....
place two bricks either side of the bike about 2ft apart, then put a plank of wood on top of the bricks, you need them to be placed so that you can balance the abba stand on the wood, then you fit the abba stand to the bike via the frame bolt that's above the swingarm bolt, this is where the socket with the tape comes in, you fit that to the abba stand attachment.
once fitted it works perfectly, the rear of the bike will be suspended via the frame, leaving the swingarm bolt free to be removed, we used a spare spindle as suggested, but we didn't even take the rear wheel off, but I can see that removing the rear wheel will make life a lot easier.....

Re: stock foot pegs bracket
I found the standard brackets are fine, only mod I did was to put slightly shorter mfw pegs on (still folding), on track they just touched very slightly on some corners, by that time the front downpipe was happily wearing itself away on the track surface. only reason I can see to fit rearsets is for looks or if you want solid mounted pegs.

popkat on Any my road bikes I had rearsets on them and race bike its just comfyer for me but yes ur right it does add to the look of it as well but never thought it would be so much hassle to fit on the vtrpopkat wrote:I found the standard brackets are fine, only mod I did was to put slightly shorter mfw pegs on (still folding), on track they just touched very slightly on some corners, by that time the front downpipe was happily wearing itself away on the track surface. only reason I can see to fit rearsets is for looks or if you want solid mounted pegs.
Re: stock foot pegs bracket
I've changed a hanger before, it's not a bad job to do as long as the spindle isn't seized.
And yes comfort is another good reason to change to rearsets.
