Today I finally got around to something I've been meaning to do since the end of November, fit 2 long stacks into the airbox. Only when I got round to doing it, I had to call Lloyd to check something (isn't he such a nice guy?) and then changed my mind and thought I'd try 2 short stacks, what's the worst that could happen? I can always try 2 longs if I don't like it, and then even go back to standard if I don't like that. Didn't take me all that long to do so I'm not really fussed.
I'm also still annoyed at Honda for when they switched the vacuum to be on the frame, utter pain in the butt to get the tank offAnd getting it back on was no more fun either!
Will do on Saturday after I've had a proper go with it on the group ride outlloydie wrote:Let us know how you get on with two short
I don't know what you're talking aboutJamoi wrote: Haha that pic is even worse!![]()

Check you out with your spannersDon't forget you'll have to rev it over 4k to feel the difference
I hate it when you're right and sensiblelloydie wrote:I'd go a test it now as it might fuel sh1t and you won't be able to ride it

That's a positive review mate, be good to take your 2 short and 2 long stacks to your dyno day and play about with them to see the results on paper. Sometimes you can feel a gain in top end power but in reality you've actually lost a bit of bottom end power, or vice versa.Virt wrote:Alright. So I just got back from the ride. Did a nice route that mixed up twisties, town/city riding, dual carriageways and motorways..
I ferking loved it.
Didn't really notice a difference when I first left the house, although the bike was idling a little bit smoother. The first section, city riding, was fine. It felt a little bit weaker under 5k rpm which made it a bit easier, in my opinion, to ride around at 30mph in 2nd gear as it wouldn't try and speed up without my input.
After about 5 miles to get out of Birmingham, joined the dual carriageway and once I got it above 5k rpm it just flew like never before. There is a very noticeable increase in pickup there and I was in 6th gear before I knew it (changing at 8k rpm). It was perfectly content, still, at cruising at standard speeds between 70-95 (kmh). The engine braking and everything is still there so slowing down was no different than before, just was very nice getting the extra acceleration.
So followed the dual carriageway for a bit, grinning ear to ear, before deciding to exit to take some twisties. I preferred the new setup here as well, changing between going above/below 5k rpm is smooth and unless you just whack the throttle open before it the bike was brilliant through the corners and with constantly changing speed. I did whack the throttle open at 4.5k in 3rd though, that was terrifyingIt felt easier to go faster through the corners though, and I noticed that I was riding 1 gear lower than I would previously to keep my revs at around the 4-4.5k so that I could easily accelerate above 5k.
Then when I decided to come home, jumped on the M5 and the bike was the exact same as on the dual carriageway. Very happy to cruise at standard speeds and no hesitation when I wanted to accelerate and get past someone..
I couldn't notice any flat spots and I didn't feel any juddering, the bike revs cleanly still and it's an absolute peach to ride. I think I'll be keeping 2 short stacks for now![]()
Gonna get a dyno run at some point for definite, just to see what it says the fuelling is like and how wrong I might be from my test ride
Oh I've definitely lost bottom-end, if only a bitJamoi wrote: That's a positive review mate, be good to take your 2 short and 2 long stacks to your dyno day and play about with them to see the results on paper. But that certainly sounds an improvement.
