Caught just in time

Post by kev64 »

Continuing on from my previous post regarding R/R replacement.
I received my RR this morning (FH0010 won on ebay for £25 posted.!!)
I started the bike this afternoon and saw a couple of burnt wires along with a bad earth connection, I ran the bike and put a multimeter
across the battery and got a reading of 15.3v !!
Switched off and disconnected the RR which was very hot indeed, considering the bike was only running for 5 mins !

Like mac said its a big bugger !!
Started the bike up and got 14.4v max across the battery,at 2000rpm , but didn't seem to fluctuate much when revved up to 5K or ticking over at 1k !!

Toasty! Good that you've fixed it.

Also, with the old RR charging the battery @ 15.3v, im a bit worried the battery has boiled dry !

R/R meltdown can usually damage the battery - so along with it being Winter best treat yourself to new 'un.

Well caught. That was an eBay bargain. I agree on changing the battery as a precaution. It would cost you a lot more to replace with anther MOSFET if a dodgy battery kills it.
