Re: Bikes your dad had/has.
Dad had a vespa or lambretta scooter way before my time, but I do remember him having a BSA Beagle in the garage but it never ran!

Strange isn't it, most people i speak to have a history of bikes in the family.Ckennedy wrote:It's the same for me Jamie so your not the only oneJamoi wrote:No one in my family have any interest in bikes![]()
Yet I'm bike mad. OddI'm the first biker in the family and one of my brothers may well be on the path of following me
I immediately got into bikes after seeing my mate go through his neighbours fence at 30mph on a twist n go. His neighbour was a teacher from our school and we had bunked the afternoon off

Try explaining that one!

Re: Bikes your dad had/has.
My dad had a Douglass Dragonfly and an Ariel square four. He then bought a Manx Norton and theres a picture of me sat on it in the Ace Cafe car park in 1969. It was in a display cabinet up till about 2004. Ive been into bikes probably ever since as went with him everywhere even in his side car.
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!

Same here. I grew up in a family where bikes were thought of as dangerous and anti-social. My mom still thinks it's a "phase" I am going through designed to tick her off (as if I am still a teen.) I had to buy my first bike in bits in order to get it in under the radar. They thought I would never get it running so it was OK. They were so wrong. I am the only one in the family that is bike mad.Jamoi wrote:No one in my family have any interest in bikes![]()

And I'm not to sure too sure I'm happy when a lot of the bikes some folks are listing as "bike their dad had" are the same as bikes I had

I'm obviously too young to have children, hell I don't even have a girlfriendfabiostar wrote:moving the thread to the next stage tho. would you be happy to let your own children ride bikes? known the dangers it brings ? for me id say no id rather they didnt at least not on the roads..

If you stop them having one and they really want one, they'll just hide it from you in the future probably.. I'd rather know about it so I could offer them safety tips and observe their riding when they start on the road, same as my Dad did for me and my brother

Re: Bikes your dad had/has.
But your dad and brother ride sh1t so that didn't help .
If my lad wants one as he gets older I will send him on every corse I can and take him out with me .
He lost interest in the little dirt bike I got him sadly
