switch gear.
indicators have been playing up and stopped working altogether on the brass monkey run yesterday. is the switch gear serviceable or is it better to replace?

Re: switch gear.
Spray brake cleaner or gt85 into it and move the switches
Re: switch gear.

Re: switch gear.
I get that a lot :-( .
You can dismantle them but watch out for the spring and bb .
Strip it down and give all the contacts a good clean and if it still don't work replace it

There's quite a few universal ones out there.

Re: switch gear.
I used to pull the brushes apart and polish the contacts with a bit of cardboard and a WD 40 Type cleaner , then smother them in Vaseline and put them all back together. Llydies right though, watch out for flying springs on disassembley.Diabolus wrote:cleaned it out a few weeks ago and now its stopped working again, is there a better version or alternative.

Re: switch gear.
Sorry, tied up with work again.
There are only two screws (Philips head bolts) holding the switch gear to the handle bar. Take them both out and then the switch gear comes apart in two halves. Inside you'll find some more Philips screws holding the switches in place, undo them and that gives you access to the contacts. That's when things can go ping so I'd recommend having plenty of light around and a sharp pair of eyes.

Re: switch gear.

Here is the cause of the faulty indicator switch, the grease used in the sprung loaded contact congeals in the colder weather once thoroughly cleaned and lubed with dielectric grease my indicator switch now works better than ever.

Re: switch gear.
the pic shows the rear of the part, the sprung loaded contacts are on the other side, you will get what i mean whe n you take it apart.lloydie wrote:Great pic . Something I want to do with mine while it's not in use
when it was faulty if you pushed the contacts in it would very slowly come back out again this is what was causin a delay of upto 10 seconds when I switched the indicators on.
