HELP!!!!

Post by NT1000 »

I tried to take the sheet cowl off to access the indicator relay and to my horror I found out one of the side bolts just spins around. I tried grips but still doesn't come out. The position of it making it difficult to do anything without damaging the plastics. It looks like some sort of thread pressed on the frame (sorry don't know what is called). The question is if I pull the whole thing out (if it comes out by pulling) would I damage anything, and would I be able to find out a replacement? I'm really stressed out about it.

Many thanks

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

No luck :( looks like the only option is to either drill or saw the bolt out. The good news is that I managed to get to the relay with the cowl attached.

Another issue now. I though the relay was faulty, so I've got a another one to test, but its not the relay after all. Wile I was messing about with the switches I noticed the high beam button had stuck in! I opened it up and squirt wd40 on it and with a bit of persuasion it was freed. I then squirt wd40 in to the indicator switch. The indicators now working but there is a delay when I first flick the switch, and then there is a delay when I switch sides. Is this normal, and is the use of wd40 safe in the switch?

If it's not the flasher relay then I would check the wattage on the bulbs themselves as this can cause issues when the wrong wattage is used, especially if there is a mismatch.

I've had the bike for 7 years and it has been fine. Its only the last year or so that the problem has started. I haven't changed any bulbs either.

Weird :confused It's normal for there to be a very slight split second delay as it's not instant from flicking the switch and talking to the flasher unit and that kicking in. Anything longer is not normal.
