Front disc's?

Post by sirch345 »

Does anyone know if the Firestorm front brake disc's are meant to be fitted off-set, meaning the carrier bobbins and carrier cut-outs in the left disc don't line up parallel with the righthand disc when looking through the wheel :?:

I have a feeling this is standard for some motorcycle manufactures, although I'm not sure if this is for the Firestorm/Superhawk,

I always line them up as it can create vibration under breaking

Thanks Lloydie and Al for your replies

Mine don't line up atm, but seeing as I had to replace both wheels a few years ago due to corrosion (you've probably forgotten that), I was wondering if I made a mistake by not fitting both disc's inline when I swapped them over. I realise it's not dangerous to fit them either way.

I have a feeling I read somewhere that some manufactures did fit disc's so they didn't line up to help combat pulsing when the brakes were applied, of course I could have got that bit wrong :)

I've never thought about the bobins being parallel to each other from side to side. I can't see what difference it makes, they go around with the centrifugal forces no matter how they are positioned as it's round....and round, and round, and round, and round.
