noob mods

Post by mr-jeff »

Hi everyone,
I am a noob here and also a noob to the vtr world
I have had my first vtr for about a week now and i am loving every ride.
After reading lots of other peoples threads about their bikes i think i should join in the fun.
But before i spend silly amounts of money on cosmetic mods i thought I'd pick the brains of those in the know ( thats you lot )
My bike is a 99 model with just over 34k on the clock. It appears to be fairly unmolested other than a nice loud pair of leo vince carbon cans :D
So what i want to know is.....are there any things (parts or known faults) i should specifically check for or change before i start playing with the looks?
Any advice or tips greatfully received.
Cheers.

There is nothing in the history to tell me either way!
How would i know if it had been done or needed doing?
Is it really obvious?

Greetings

Have a read through this esp the part that covers 'Bike Maintenance and Upgrades/Modifications' *** Read Me for New Members *** > http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 23&t=31345

and put the GrainStorm 2 gathering in your diary... http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 14&t=36154
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

welcome jeff, have a good read thru, there's a handful of issues that need looking at, cam chain tensioners is a biggy.
but there's also the reg/rec, starter motor terminal, rear shock linkage, possible corrosion of the oil lines.
if your bikes been well looked after, some if all of these issues will have been addressed....
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
