damaged rear disc bolt

Post by agentpineapple »

one of my rear disc bolts has rounded, the allen head has turned to mush....
what's the best way to remove it, I was thinking I could dremmel a line across the top and try using a flat head plus impact driver, is there an easier better way to remove it, I don't want to drill it, as that would probably meant tapping and dying.

Hammer in a torx bit, if that doesn't work drill the head off, not the thread part, when the disc comes off you should be able to get grips on the protruding thread.

as the disc was on the wear limit, I ended up cutting the disc off.....
then I squared off the bolt head and used an adjustable to undo the bolt, proper pain in the butt tho....

Some easy-outs may be a good investment for you. This is not the first and wont be the last you will come across.
