link pipes
Just come to loosely fitting some new link pipes and they are rattling around like a rat in a drainpipe.
The link pipes I removed have what looks like graphite seals in there on the link pipe to downpipe join. Are these standard kit? If so, where can I get hold of these? Thanks.

Re: link pipes
On the topic of these graphite seals are they a tight fit over the pipes? I have bought three for when I refit my replacement headers but a quick trial yesterday and i couldn't get them over the pipes without appearing to damage them.

Re: link pipes
They go inside - You might try to open up the slotted pipe a tad more so they wiggle in more easily.

Re: link pipes
So , the graphite tube slips in the slotted ends - then what about the male parts - don't they then slide inside the graphite tubes - or am I going crazy lol
Re: link pipes
Depends if you have OEM or aftermarket system.... As some aftermarket systems fit differently relying on a good interference fit and a good ol' clamping.

Aftermarket
Re: link pipes
Have I ballsed up here?
Re: link pipes
IIRC correctly - my old Micron link pipes slotted differently than OEM and just needed a larger clamp to seal it securely as it wasn't reliant on graphite seals.

Re: link pipes
Sorry think I was confused
Did you mean are the pipes aftermarket? They are not. - they are oem. The graphite sleeves are definitely pattern

Re: link pipes

The seals go inside the slotted part of the link pipe fitting against a ridge at the bottom. Make sure the old ones are out and the inside is cleaned up allowing the seals to drop in with some wiggling (some copper grease will help) You can open up the slotted opening but be careful not deforming the link pipe opening into a weird egg shape monstrosity.
Then you should be able to put to wiggle your male end into the open accepting lubed female end until you're all the way in, clamp up to prolong the pleasure till eventually happy noises are made...

Re: link pipes
Thanks wicky - my thoughts were correct.
I just tried to push one of the male ones into one of the graphite tubes and was struggling but I guess they have to be tight
