Which Eastern Beaver kit?

Post by StewartR »

Hi folks,

not been around here for a while but now I needs your clever so am crawling back...

Not sure why but my headlight beam looked decidedly yellow last night so I have resolved to get some Eastern Beaver action on the go. There are two options though - "In shell" or "In fairing". It might seem a silly question but which makes for the tidiest fit?

And should I bother adding a ceramic bulb holder or is that only necessary for face melting bulb wattages?

Cheers,

Stewart.

'In Fairing' if you've a stock VTR with fairing - if yours is fightered and has a shelled headlight unit then go for that option.

Last time I asked he Eager Beaver didn't offer the ceramic H4 bulb holder so bought that sperately and soldered it on or pushed the pins out and attached that way - can't recall, as I had burnt my OEM nylon bulb holder even with a normal bulb. Look to get an angled rather than straight Ceramic holder.

Cheers Wicky  EB order placed :D

Just googled the angled holder - is that angled cable exit you are talking about?

Yup - there was a problem with my ebay ceramic holder as it wouldn't initially work with my Eager beaver kit when all put together - and after much head scratching and multimeter work I found one of the wires on the ceramic holder hadn't been crimped properly - it was crimped on the insulation rather than on wire! hence why I unpicked it apart and reassembled. Not the fault of eager beaver as it was the problem with poor quality holders and a main reason why he was discontinuing offering them with his kits.

Cool - thanks for the info and tips. Very much appreciated.

Looks like I have a crazy fun filled wiring weekend ahead sometime very soon then - as well as the EB I have a USB socket I've been avoiding and have just bought a sat nav too. Yay!
