Rear Caliper - more woes!!!

Post by BrianC »

Having fitted the manual CCT s last night (still to reassemble everything) I decided I better build up the rear suspension/swinging arm so I can roll the bike around.

I had already prepared and fixed all the linkages with new bearings/seals and cleaned everything up, so after a juggling act swinging arm, shock and cushion were all back in place, and it looks great !!!!
Looked at rear caliper and thought it looks scruffy so disconnected from carrier, cleaned that, then started to look at Caliper - it was just not floating !!!!. Basically the floating bush, in the rubber seal has completely corroded - see below,

plus dust seal on piston was rotted and piston is scored. So I've just ordered a good used one off flea bay, plus pads, plus a master cylinder kit - might as well !!!!!

So some more delay, but this will not beat me !!!!!

Should get sprayed bellypan back soon, and also got the crank inspection cover from DS this morning.

Keep the faith!!!!!

Nasty. Just don't understand how the previous owner would neglect servicing such a vital component

Nor me - if I have to ride a machine it will be spot on mechanically - especially all the safety items, hence me Fettling all the suspension bearings etc

It's a massive learning curve and I will list everything I gave done once I get there - every electrical contact is bring cleaned and greased etc
