Cam covers - sealant????
Re: Cam covers - sealant????
I just use silcone to hold the rubber gasket in place on the cam cover. Then just plop it on and bolt down but don't over tighten!
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Re: Cam covers - sealant????
Thanks for that - the gaskets are well stuck to the cam covers so I'll leave well alone!!!
That's my job tomorrow - get it all back together
I will get there !!!!

Re: Cam covers - sealant????
I use an RTV sealant but make sure it goes off before running the bike and don't use too much of it, you don't want it spreading inside if poss. Also remove the crusty stuff that's on there from new, i do it carefully with a flat blade screwdriver on the gasket. Only the face that meets the cylinder head, i don't disturb the seal where it fits in the cam cover.

Re: Cam covers - sealant????
I never use any sealant on the cam cover gaskets, just leave them stuck to the covers and you can take them on and off many times.....
After 17 yrs of owning the bike and losing track of how many times I have had the covers off, I still am running the OEM cam cover gaskets
