Bike wont start in gear
I was out riding today and the bike stalled on me at the lights. I pulled the clutch in and hit the starter and NOTHING!!
It was in 2nd gear at the time. I had to shift to neutral to be able to start it. Nothing from the starter at all when I tried to crank it in gear.
Any ideas!!!

You had not accidentally depressed the emergency cut out button
on the handlebar had you? , even a slight depression of it could make it
work.. an obvious thought but happened to me one time .. thought
soon put right.

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Re: Bike wont start in gear
Unplug the two spade terminals that go into the clutch switch and link them together to bypass and verify if that is at fault or not.

Re: Bike wont start in gear
All fixed. It was the clutch switch. I took it off and sprayed it with contact cleaner and operated it a few times. I put the multi meter on it and it tested ok. Put it back on the bike and all ok. I did test it by putting a fuse across the two blade connectors. For once an easy fix.
Thanks guys.

Re: Bike wont start in gear
Carl, the issue is that with each fix that we do we often learn valuable stuff but we never get to use it again as the same problem never arises TWICE in the lifetime of one motorcycle. But it keeps us out of the pubs and brothels - so I guess that's a good thing. The other advantage also is that our experience and stories are there to help others in similar situations.cybercarl wrote:That's nice..... I could do with a few of them. For once an easy fix.

Thanks for YOUR help as well, not just on this one but on the many other occasions you have offered advice.
