Led mirrors - rip off ?
Led mirrors - rip off ?
I'm a bit suspicious of some led mirrors I have bought from ebay.
I had been looking for some Trojan mru014 and specifically asked an ebay trader if those for sale were these and uk supplied - they said yes.
So they turn up with a note saying ' sent with care from China' !!!!!!
In addition they are not e marked!!!
And there is only one wire lead???

Unfortunately ebay is riddled with useless inferior s**t from China, wouldn't touch it with a barge pole
the old saying still stands.
If you buy cheap, you buy twice

If you buy cheap, you buy twice

Like what you do

SH#T HAPPENS!!!!!!!!
Re: Led mirrors - rip off ?
That's why I asked if it was a particular make and Uk - but they lied in the response to my question !!!!!
Re: Led mirrors - rip off ?
I've run these for ages, and they break fairly easily, the wires are thin and stop working after a couple of years, the mirrors vibrate a bit and if you buy them you have to treat them as consumables.
And don't pay too much!

£15 and change. use them up and wear them out.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Led mirrors - rip off ?
Ive been thinking of running something like this and deleting the normal turn signals.
Re: Led mirrors - rip off ?
Well don't buy the crap I have !!!!!
Surprise surprise - no response from them so far

Re: Led mirrors - rip off ?
They aren't bright enough on their own so you will need at least sidelight repeaters at the front.NZSpokes wrote:Ive been thinking of running something like this and deleting the normal turn signals.
Same with built-in rear light indies.

hi tony
can you see ok with these and do you need anything else because they are led`s eg, relays, resistors, flasher unit
thanks
Re: Led mirrors - rip off ?
Fair question. I'm not overly fussed with what's behind me so as long as I can see if there's anything at all I don't really mind a blurred image. After all, it's no use being able to describe what clothes the driver of the car that's hot you up the butt was wearing.bazzashadow wrote:tony.mon wrote:I've run these for ages, and they break fairly easily, the wires are thin and stop working after a couple of years, the mirrors vibrate a bit and if you buy them you have to treat them as consumables.

So for me, they work.
I have already fitted resistors in line on all four corners, as tat allows me to run as many LED's a sI want. The cheapskate method is to wire in a normal lamp type bulb in series, tape up the bulb and keep it under the seat.
They're lighter than std mirrors in terms of weight but not as bright, if you see what I mean.
And when you drop the bike they're pennies to replace.
But the arm snaps quite easily, my daughter's school bag hoisted carelessly over her shoulder as she left the house did for one, but you always end up with one usable one left, so after a while you can make up a pair that match.
She bloody paid for a new pair, right enough.
Firm but fair, in our household.

Re: Led mirrors - rip off ?
I'm not trying to defend any old sh1te that is made in China, but what I will say is that a lot of British companies actually have products made for them under licence (so as I understand it they have to produce such products to a certain standard set out by the British company) for them as it's cheaper than having them made home here. So not all items produced in China are rubbish, it's just that a lot of them are. Take a look around your home at all the electrical items you have in it, I bet you'll be shocked to see how many are made in China,
Chris.

I suppose what I should of put is
can I just wire these direct to and run with my original indicators and expect them to work ok
