before I snap it

Post by pstormer »

Morning all
Got to fit standard belly pan brackets today but one of the sump bolts (front left) is real tight and I really really don't want to snap it :eek2 so any advice before I do would be appreciated

Tap the head of the bolt lightly left and right or forward and backward to break the corrosion seal around the head to case interface. Then try penetrating fluid. If you're careful you can make a small reservoir with plasticene or modelling clay round the head and fill it with penetrating oil overnight.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Hello mate

When I took those brackets off all the studs were tight - I applied a bit of heat then some acf spray and did thus a few times - also gave the studs a sharp tap with a drift to crack that corrosion. Then did a very slight tighten then cracked them off.

Good luck

Brian
