Graphite exhaust gaskets

Post by BrianC »

Does everyone have trouble with these???

Getting the male part of the pipes into the gaskets is proving really difficult as they deform so easily.

Any tips for me ?

I always use a smear of coperslip & put the gasket onto the header first, then more copperslip & twist & push the link pipe on.

Are you using genuine Honda gaskets ?

Are the std pipes or aftermarket cans ?

You can with a bit of care spread the link pipe flange out a bit...Try a nice round bit of wood...a curtain pole maybe...

When you clamp it back up with the nice new clamps you bought, it will close the flaired flange up...

You will only have to open up the flange a smidgen BTW !

Great post full of technical info & FLANGE x3 ...

Put the gasket onto the male part before installing.
It goes onto the male pipe easier than the female one.
As said, you then spread the female part a little wider and insert the male part.

Your turn, Mac.....Flange? Pah. This is how you do innuendo.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
