Top Yoke Bar Conversion
Top Yoke Bar Conversion
Forgive me , I am new, but I found some links on google, but now can't find them here on the forum.
I have just bought a 2003 Firestorm and want to do the top yoke thing and put higher bars on it.
Can anyone who has done this point me in the right direction, things to watch out for when doing it, which bars to use etc etc..
Thanks, and Hi to everyone.

Re: Top Yoke Bar Conversion
Ultra low bend street bars, so the 2nd lowest rise bars (flat bars are lower)

Re: Top Yoke Bar Conversion
no real need to use the fat bars. they are only adding expense ,the normal low rise bars with a set of bar risers bolted onto the top yoke will do fine.
the older i get,the faster i was

Re: Top Yoke Bar Conversion
Sent the fairing off today to be chopped professionally and then resprayed so it looks original again.
Still waiting for top yoke, hopefully two will arrive together and the whole thing can be put back to a rideable bike in one neat job.

I'm glad I trimmed the fairing before I had it painted or I'd be crying after .

Re: Top Yoke Bar Conversion
Buy a flip up screen, as now your sitting up you get all the wind blast with the original screen. I have one on mine and it makes so much difference.
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!
Re: Top Yoke Bar Conversion
I agree............ although flip screen isn't as sexy looking as the fabri double bubble, I had to convert back to flip as it was giving my neck a serious workout riding at "progressive" speeds

I have bought a double bubble Airblade one for now to see if that will do ?
Top Yoke due today, so hopefully start putting it together over the weekend

If you are below 6ft you should be ok, but if you are a lanky fecker like me you will tell the difference with a flip

That fine as I short fat santa shaped...

Re: Top Yoke Bar Conversion - UPDATE
The fairing is back looking perfect, New brake and Clutch Hoses are fitted (well, routed and attached).
Double bubble screen is on and new pretty levers fitted to clutch and front brake.
Oh, and the top yoke !!! Now that's where I have to contain myself.
I have had to order in some of the LSL clamp on style converters as the Top yoke guy is an utter ************
It's a very long story, and there is no top yoke at the end of it, after I get my money back (reckon that will be a miracle), I will tell you all exactly what a **** he is.
In my entire life I have never dealt with a worse company.
I should have heeded the many many warnings on the internet about them/him.
LSL ones delivered in 2 days from Germany, I will collect them from Post Office tomorrow, then hopefully some pictures of it all finished.

Re: Top Yoke Bar Conversion
It's all done
Pictures below of the new bars all finished.
Ignore the braided hoses which are way too long, I will make a new set tomorrow, just couldn't wait any longer to get it up and running.
Can't quite get full lock, but can put on steering lock ok.
Had to lengthen the horn cable as well.
Looks ok, but first ride not impressed with the buzzy bars, so need to look at that before any long journeys.
Any ideas or comments welcome.

Re: Top Yoke Bar Conversion
The standard bars have a big weight internally, not just the bar ends, to damp down the bars. Don't know what the other guys have done but I expect you will have to expect some vibes. Also make sure your carbs are fully sync'd as that will help with cutting down vibration in general.
Looks good BTW apart from the blueness of course...
