Just getting round to putting pads in my replacement calliper.
When i took the old pads out of the replacement calliper there was an anti squeal shim and also a sort of fibre shim the same shape as the anti squeal. I cant see these fibre things listed anywhere and I'm not sure they were in the original i took out
Any ideas?
Rear brake pads & caliper etc
Re: Rear brake pads & caliper etc
I'd ignore it, sounds like some previous owners mod. Never seen one on any of my brake pads. Might have been done to help reducing squeal, but that can be achieved with a bit of copperslip on the back of the shim.
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!
Re: Rear brake pads & caliper etc
I sorted this guys so no stress
Re: Rear brake pads & caliper etc
Some aftermarket pads have an anti squeal pad, often looks like a mesh sort of design.
They break up if you use them repeatedly.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Rear brake pads & caliper etc
Cheers tony - the issue was that with the new pads the calliper was a tight fit over the disc.
And as you say they are falling apart !!!
