Hi all
Took delivery of my firestorm this morning.
Yellow, standard body but upgraded suspension. 18500 on the clock.
By the looks of the mot history. The VTR hasn't been used since 2008.
Bit different from my day to day ride, pre vtec VFR800.
Interest in finding out the problems of owning a firestorm and popular mods and tweaks.

You'll find a big problem if you don't address the cam chain tensioner as it's been laid up that long . Swap them asap.
Tyres will also need changed if they haven't in that time .

As above from loydie sort the cam chain tensioners out first and then make sure you have a good Reg/Rec fitted the older flat type are crap and can cost you a battery if it goes

accepted wisdom is to modify the cct s or fit manual tensioners. new Honda autos may well fail sharpish if you are unlucky.

Spend your hard earned on sorting out the CCT's, tyres & reg rec. Service the shock linkage & brakes. Then & only then start on the mods. Start with a decent set of cans & move on from there...
Just avoid the cheap colored anodized crap & lazer cut VTR chrome things...
In fact throw that M&P cat in the bin...


Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...

I can only agree with the guys, and i am on with all these jobs.
Manuals fitted
Disaster of the suspension linkage completely refurbished ( bearings were corroded and collapsed)
Had to fit a new starter as it was corroded into the block plus contact point was completely destroyed by corrosion
Rear brake calliper replace - was seized up on floating buses
New chain and sprockets
Complete plugs, oil, filters service
Plus a few other things as well
Some may say why did i buy it - well after going right through it i know it will be right.
Just listen to the guys on here and you will not go far wrong

My VFR has been neglected by previous owners and now I'm putting that right. And I'll do the same with the VTR.

An excellent choice of machine and colour , the laws of science dictate that your yellow storm
will be spotted much quicker by cagers as you travel the highways and byways,
I have seen a quite a few VTR's red uns, black and blue uns mangled out of total recognition
