the only way to truly tell, is to see the under side of the tank, they have different fitments of petcock. also be wary of late registered bikes, which are early models with the smaller tank, but were sold as late as 2002. you can't always rely on the tank having the Honda wing decal instead of the old style lettering (Firestorm) it might be a 16ltr that has been resprayed at some point

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!

Must have stood in a showroom for a long long time before being registered as new. Interesting to know what the chassis ID says. If its a true 03 it should have all the upgrades. The JH followed by a number will denote the year. Eg: JH2----- 2002 ect. If I am incorrect someone will correct me.Watty wrote:Even later Marty! Plus of course the extra weight, PAIRS system, extra steel to make the tank bigger, the extra 3 liters of fuel your carting around, all the bits & pieces for the HISS system, even the ECU is bigger & lets not forget all the extra lard you carry around due to all those chips you eat...

Re: VTR1000 TANK
As I understand it only the late model Euro VTRs got the bigger tank. I don't think that modification came to the US. I have a 2005 and it has a peanut tank.
