Cans for other bikes

Post by roger64 »

I was wondering if I purchased a set of slip on scorpion cans for say a gsx1400, scorpion say they dyno test the cans to the bike and other manufacturers say the same what have they done and would it have much effects on my vtr1000. Do they make 2 cylinder bike exhaust stronger than 4 cylinder bike exhaust I ask that as a friend of mine blew a carbon can up on his RSV. I was looking to get some road legal cans so I can get to the top of the road before the neighbour's get chance to run out and stone me on the way past. :D

Not to sure on the first question but going to your friend with the carbon can? Had it been repacked soon before it broke? The twins put out powerful waves which can make carbon explode if it's not packed as soon as it needs it.

I too have heard the rumours of exploding carbon cans on v twins but i have run loads of different sets with out a hitch. As ever happen to any one ......or is it like the swan and wing thing

i.e. everybody know a swan can break a mans arm but as any body ever met a person who had is arm broke by a swan

Those bloody Swans keeping breaking my arms now I only have two left.

Yeh you can put cans from another bike on and if you get really lucky it will have the same inlet diameter. But don't expect the bike to perform the same. It will have an affect and whether that be a positive or negative affect depends on many variables.

Some more info on exhausts.

As for the Carbon your best to go with the better quality brands like Akra for example. Go with cheap carbon and it will blow, especially the cheap Chinese shite.

The akrapovic carbon cans are so flimsy you could put your finger through them .

I wouldn't use carbon cans again without fitting some extra heat resistant layer to the carbon first .

if you want black, get some Powertech Performance black cans there great on e bay and offer Simon £195 with link pipes and he will bite ya arm off. I've bought over 9 sets of cans and pipes off him over the years.
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!
