Fairing assembly
Fairing assembly
Hello chaps, a quick question for those who have disassembled their front fairing. The fairing on my bike, while it looks externally OK, does not quite sit right around one side of the headlight. There's a gap down the side of the headlight, and some sort of clip or lug between the panels that won't quite seat properly between the centre section and the side under the light. I presume there's some damage here but haven't been too bothered to explore as it holds together well enough on the bike. However there's good looking centre section for sale on our local auction site that I could buy. Is there a bit below the headlight that commonly gets broken in here in a tip-over, and is it normally the centre section or side panel that is damaged?

Re: Fairing assembly
Nothing under the headlight. That is all one piece that goes around the headlight. It sounds to me that your gap may be created by a badly fitted together side fairing and headlight surround. There is a bit of a technique to clipping them together. You have to get them bottom ones in by angleing the fairing, clipping in the holes ate the bottom headlight srround and then pull the fairing up and bend/twist to get the other tabs in place higher up by the screen. You should remove the screen to get the side fairing in place. Once together it's all held together by a screw on the inside and the inner infill panels that indicators run through, and a screw that runs through a spire clip under the headlight.
Oh and did I mention you cant really do this while on the bike. Take the fairing off and it will be far easier.

Re: Fairing assembly
I had also had problems with my fairing.
Since I bought a new centre fairing, with all lugs, no broken holes etc,
I reassembled the complete fairing in the living room and it went
back together like never before, now looks far better,
everything lines up, get that centre fairing !
