to fill or not to fill, that is the question

Post by mr-jeff »

Hi all,
I'm considering replacing my mirrors with some new ones with integrated led indicators.
I know i need to replace the indicator relay or fit inline resisitors but what I'm unsure about is what to do with the normal front indicators.
If i buy and fit the new mirrors then the old indicators will be surplus to requirements and look a bit dated.
So do i remove them and attempt to fill the holes somehow or go for the lazy option and fit some flush mount led indicators too?
Flush mount aren't as visible as standard but with the new mirrors having leds built in that would solve that.
So more lights or fill the holes, what are peoples opinions and or experiences?
As usual all advice/opinions gratefully recieved, even the ones from MacV2 poking fun at me!!

Fit flush fitting as well as the mirrors !
Will save a lot of work. (safe ruining your paintwork)
If it was me I would convert to LEDs and have both, and LEDs at the back !
And fit an LED flasher relay !

Ok i was kind of leaning towards the flush mounts anyway so next question......
Would i be right in thinking i can split the existing indicator wiring to branch off and supply new mirrors too or would i have to run a new supply to them?

NOT TAKING THE MICK POST...

Geoff, hang a round before stummping up for any mirrors. After market ones can be a bit pants, wobble about a bit & poor wiring. ( bad solder joints & realy thin wire & as they wobble about these break...)

There are mirrors out there off other bikes which can fit IIRC Suzuki ones but not sure of which bike.

Tony Mons has some fitted of some sort but not sure which ones.

Personaly I don't like them & don't get me started on flush fits !

A good set of LED ones are good enough IMO or if you just dont like the standard ones have a look at the later modle ones as they are a bit smaller.

I went down the 'fit R1 mirrors they bolt straight on & give a better veiw' route...They didn't bolt straight on, they were lower, only marginaly wider & vibrated like fek...They came off after 1 ride & got sold asap to a mug er sorry fellow Stormer...

Right I'm off for a lay down now all this sensible post writing is taking it's toll...

I have just fitted mirrors with indicators built in and had already got these fitted on the back and front of bike

I look at it as getting myself seen by the blind car drivers
and no resister needed because you are already running enough bulbs of your flasher unit
