Stone chips/pitting on main frame that runs under tank

Hi all,

I've got a few small marks on an otherwise pretty mint bike that irk me. Is there anything I can do?

They're small pitted marks on the box section bit of the frame, which I presume were started by small stones hitting it. They're dark and fairly noticeable although small.

The obvious answer seems to be to sand it down, but I'm worried they'll stand out even more as the frame is like a brushed finish.

Anybody ever had any experience with this?

It's corrosion under the anodising, well I think it's an anodised finish, road salt/grit and storing in damp conditions or outside all winter causes it. only way to rid of it would be to rub the whole frame back and buff it with a scotchbrite pad for the brushed look, it would then have no protective coating. Or powder coat the frame. Or get some carbon frame covers.

I've seen lots like it, not just storms any Honda's from the 90's/2000's with silver frames, blades, cbr600's etc.

Unless it's really bad better/easier to leave it as is, you could try a wax or polish to protect it and if it's not left anywhere that could cause more it shouldn't get any worse.

I'll live with it then, shouldn't really get much worse as it's garaged, and it's not mega noticeable anyway, just being fussy

No problem.

It's probably due to the coating being thin and slightly porous (cheap) mine has some small ones too.
