Headlights dims

Post by Jeremiah »

Hi, i have the 1997 Honda VTR Firestorm 1000cc, whenever i apply my brakes the headlights dims a small bit. I checked my charging something and everything seems to be fine. Even when my indicators is on, the headlight slightly dims as well.
what could be the cause of this, PLEASE HELP.

what are the readings from the battery when the bikes revving at a round 3500 rpm, should be around 14-14.5volts, what is the battery reading after the bike has been left sitting for a little bit, should be around 12.5=12.7.

if there differ from the above too much, could be the R&R on the way out, or the battery isn't holding it's charge and coming to the end of its life.

Might want to think about fitting an Eager Beaver headlight relay kit which powers main light directly from the battery, rather than through the switch gear wiring. Existing switchgear connects to the relays to just switch...
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
